Since this weekend’s movie openings are an odd mix of films, we thought we might take this opportunity to talk quickly about one of our favorite actors at the moment, Jason Bateman. You’re about to see Jason Bateman’s face everywhere, as his new comedy with Jennifer Aniston is opening soon.
Jason Bateman’s career is an interesting one to look at… for starters, Jason was first best-known as Justine Bateman’s younger brother when she was famous for being on NBC-TV’s “Family Ties” in the 80s. Jason got mainstream TV roles of his own, but his breakthough for a lot of fans came later when he was cast as Michael Bluth on “Arrested Development”. That show became one of the biggest cult favorites among TV fans in the last decade, and it also won Jason Bateman a Golden Globe in 2005.
After that, Jason found himself getting lots of movie parts, including some great roles in some very high profile films. He’s actually been in five films in the last six years that have all done over 100 million dollars at the U.S. box office, and that list includes films like Juno, Couples Retreat and the biggest one of all, Hancock with Will Smith. Jason’s new comedy is called The Switch where he shares the bill with Jennifer Aniston. The Switch opens everywhere September 2nd.
As for the rumored Arrested Development movie, they say it’s in the works… maybe it’ll arrive in 2012. In the meantime, we’ll happily see plenty of Jason Bateman in other films.
